KIT

The weather in Scotland can vary from extremes of cold and wet to (hopefully) hot and dry conditions. The activities planned will involve exposure to those conditions, and be challenging in their own right. It is important to have the right equipment.

Below is a kit list outlining what Scouts and Explorers will need to take with them as well as some useful web links to information on what to look for when buying kit.

There are a number of outlets that sell all kinds of equipment but it is important to make sure you have the correct kit that fits correctly and is  comfortable, we have put together a 'where to buy guide' this is based on the experience and knowledge of the shops.

Be careful that you are not paying ‘over the top’ for high profile brands, when the same piece of equipment can be bought, without the name, for a fraction of the price. Ask what the piece of kit is designed to do, and what it is made of. Compare this with the kit list to ensure that you are buying the most cost effective piece of kit that will do the job that you require it to do.

The table below outlines a few key recommendations of where to look in order to get the correct product, service and information.
